Congregation Ohr Shalom-The Summit Jewish Community Center (COS-SJCC) is a warm, inclusive, welcoming, and engaged egalitarian synagogue. We are a dynamic center of Jewish life for over 280 families from Summit and surrounding towns in Union, Morris, Essex, and Somerset Counties.
We are more than a synagogue. We are a community built on lasting relationships. We offer a wide range of ritual, social, cultural, recreational, educational, preschool, and youth activities that engage our membership and nurture our community. We are committed to sharing the joys of our simchas together, as well as supporting one another during life’s challenges.
Our valued, longstanding clergy, Rabbi Avi Friedman and Cantor Janet Roth, welcome all who want to be part of our community regardless of religious background, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, political affiliation, sexual orientation, or gender identity. We encourage each member to participate in Jewish life in the way and to the level that they want.

We invite you and your family to experience our Jewish home. Please join us for services and/or a social event so that you can see firsthand how unique and welcoming our synagogue is.
